No New Release For The Mozilla Suite

The all-in-One Internet Application Suite (which has been splitted in Firefox + Thunderbird) will still be supported, but not developed anymore.

Mozilla Application Suite - Transition Suite

There will be an 1.7.6 release soon for the Mozilla Suite, but no 1.8 version.

Users of the Mozilla Suite will have to shift to Firefox+Thunderbird.

Or wait for other programmers to develop a new version, with eventually a new name (the Mozilla Fondation won't be involved anymore).

I guess I will finally have to make the transition to Firefox...

They should bundle the NVU editor in with it. It's mozilla based, and way way less buggy than the editor that they never fixed in mozilla suite. With Thunderbird & Firefox it would make a kick-arse suite.
