I always give unwanted things to a couple of Thai familys. But, I don't think they need a scanner...

Highonthai - Could you post on the Freecycle board too?

Usually with Freecycle, you offer something, and then request something seperately. i.e. offer the scanner free, then request some potted plants on a separate post. The reason being, in a swap environment, finding someone that needs a scanner, but also has some potted plants going spare might be a difficult match to find.
