Domain Name Registration In The Uk

Hello. I intend to set up a website in a year or so when I return to the uk but in the meantime I would like to register my domain name with a uk based company. Is there an on line company in the Uk that you could recommend as I don't want to leave it to luck and take any chances of my name being used before I can set up my company.

I've used www.totalregistrations.com in the past. I've found them to be very reliable. They're more expensive than they used to be though.

Is there any reason for using a UK-based company? I always do things through namecheap.com these days.
