Urgent Advice On Birthregistration And Childsupport

Last chanse to get my daughter legitimized will be in a few days (monday). I have seroius doubts on what to do.

In the past i was completely screwed in a similar situiation, as the mother of my child then turned on me as soon as the baby was born and she had her pappers to stay in my country. We where then not married. Left me without child and a bill to pay.

Now i wonder what will be best for me as i dont want to end up in a similar situation. As things stand the mother and i are in love and the baby is so sweet. Not married.

Fear being that i make all document and become the real father and then for some reason or another she turns on me (sooner or later) , will leave me with another bill to pay and severly reduced chances of travelling and staying in thailand.

If im legitimized i have 50% custody? What would that mena in benefit for me? In what situation would i have to pay childsupport then? If i travel to see the child are thoose costs deductable from the childsupport?

Dont get me wrong, i will pay for the child of my own free will but dont want to be forced to pay more than i can in case of truoble coming my way again.

How could i handle the situation for my best, would the mother show to be malicious after all? Ofourse i imgaine she could try to make a paternitysuit even if all papers arent signed but it would be a bit more difficult and less lightly.

Thank you for any advice.

You don't give much information. Are you in Thailand, living with the mother? Did the mother already register the birth or not?

legitimising means you become the father, if you don't legitimise the child the mother can file a paternity suit and have the court determine that you are the father nd should pay child support.

Normaly you would share custody with the mother and would be requireed to contribute in the cost of living of the child. One would not go to court over this unless you are not living with the mother. You would have a Thai child and could get a visa based on that.

Your travel expenses have nothing to do with the cost of living of the child.

Thank you for your answer.

We are not living together, since i came here on long vacations fequently and during thoose times we lived together.

Now i have been working in my country and shes been living with the parents. We dont really have any way of living together permanently at this time. Maybe later i could stay in thailand more definetly. Now im in thailand and shes signed my name at the hospital but its not been registered at the amphur yet. The last date for that would be on monday.

How could i protect myself from being forced to pay to much childsupport should the worst happen? If we are not living together, it seem like that issue migh come up? Since my former experince and relationship broke of at an early stage i have little knowledge about custody issues.
