October 4, 200916 yr My son was born here in Chiang Mai on the 17th of last month. I am a U.S. citizen residing in Chiang Mai with a Non-Immigrant O-A visa. The baby's mother is Thai. We are not married. We just went to the office where you register the child's birth last week and obtained his birth certificate. I would like to go through the procedure to obtain him U.S. citizenship, therefore making him a dual-citizen. I have looked all through the website of the U.S. Consulate General in Chiang Mai and I do not see anything pertaining to this. Can someone advise me where to look or what to do? Any information or links would be much appreciated. I did perform a search on TV and kept getting an error for some reason. Thank you kindly. elektrified

October 7, 200916 yr We got our son dual citizenship last year through the US embassy in BKK. The process is straight forward. Follow the link that Mario gave you. Make sure that you not only apply for his US passport, but his Birth abroad Consular report (certificate) signed by the consular stating that he is a legal US citizen entitled to all rights under the US constitution. This certificate is just as, (if not more) important than his US passport. Check out US.gov and make sure that you have everything that needs to be translated, translated, especially his Thai birth registration. Edited October 7, 200916 yr by mizzi39
