Most Romantic Restaurant In Bkk?

Anyone know the most romantic rest in BKK, not silly silly money I mean 3,000 for 2 tops any ideas anyone? went to Bayoke last night time - view great -food rubbish and rushed and buffet style hardly romantic, why they cant have a seperate nice rest on another floor I dont know!

Don't know if it's to be considered the most romantic restaurant but it's a nice romantic setting in the tropical garden (also aircon inside) with the Cabbages & Condoms (real name!) restaurant on Sukkhuvmvit, Soi 12:

Most people enjoy the restaurant and it's also quiet, comfortable, pleasant atmosphere and good food and just a few steps away from the hustle of BKK.

The educational "condom" atmosphere is....hmmmm...special and funny.

But...dinner along the river side in one of the restaurants of the major hotels is also romantic but a bit more expensive I suppose.

If these three on beyond your budget, then an upstairs table at Tapas Cafe, Sukhumvit 11, might do the job.

I don't find the above-mentioned C&C that romantic but the mention reminded me of Crepes & Co, same soi, also nice.

For Thai cuisine, Celadon at The Sukhothai. Over the next three nights only, two visiting chefs (one Thai, one Danish) from Kiin Kiin, a Michelin-starred restaurant in Copenhagen, are hosting special tasting dinners.

for a romantic dinner, why not try the dinner cruise on the old rice barge which departs from the Marriott Riverside Hotel. Limited number on board and really great food, plus has a good selection of wines and champagne.

Very nice recommendations but I doubt if one can dine in one of your suggestions for Baht 3,000 for two (tops) as the OP mentioned but it seems there's nothing wrong with your taste Sabaijai

Maybe apply for a job with Michelin for the Far East* ?

If you are taking a thai girl out for dinner, try Rosabien in Sukhumvit 11. It has outdoor seating in a garden atmosphere, with live music (often soft jazz) and food that thais really enjoy. Its a beautiful restaurant in a tranquil setting which would be ideal in this great weather we are having right now. Dinner for two won't cost you an arm and a leg either--probably about 1500 with a couple of drinks.

Red Sky and Ginger at the Centara Grand are both great restaurants for atmosphere, but might be a bit above your budget if you include wine with your meal.

As to the river cruises, I remember trying it once. While the converted rice barge was nice, and the food was okay, the fat foreign tourists took away the mood for me. However, it was nice that we got personal service from the manager once he found out that I could speak Thai.

MUST get there before sundown, sit at the outdoor roof top bar, have a couple of cocktails and watch the sunset with 360 degree view of Bangkok.

Cost min Baht 5,000, maybe more, but worth it.

They also added Japanese to their list of cuisines, i beleive... but i will also second Face Resturant - excellent quality, little pricey but worth it

Best kept secret: Try the "other" Bayoke restaurant (in the other Bayoke building). About 43rd floor; it's called the Sky Lounge (022-550-330). Very intimate restaurant with great views and soft live jazz music. Smaller but better buffet than the "big Bayoke" restaurant in your OP.

About 550B each, a very good deal considering the view, music, and good food. Must make reservations if you want my favorite table, though--in the corner by the window.

The latter has the advantage that you can go upstairs afterwards for some music.

some nice suggestions, nice food, but not all that have been suggested are what I would consider 'romantic'

or they would cost you more than the 3000 baht for 2 budget

with exception of:

Eat Me restaurant and GAllery - in Soi Convent. make sure you try the dessert! (I believe their menu changes every few months....but last time I had some berry-fruit based thing, and a sticky date pudding that was OHHH SOOOOO YUMMY!)

Face Bar - the thai restaurant section feels somewhat romantic, in an old fashioned kinda way.......bamboo trees, slow thai classical music. food is just 'ok' hence overpriced in my opinion

I found Le Cafe Siam to be very romantic, and if you dont drink too much...I think you could get a meal within the budget. (a bit hard to get to.....its on a dark street beside the entry to the Express way off Rama 4 road). Set in a colonial style home, with garden.

At Vertigo or Sirocco drinks alone would be already above 1000 baht! I usually do that...food at Eat Me in Convent, then a short taxi ride to Vertigo for drinks

there used to be a tiny little place in Suk Soi 31....further down from the Silom Village in that soi...cant remember the name...but my guess is its no longer there. didnt seem like it would last long...which is unfortunate with many smaller/cosy places in Bangkok.

(my biggest devastation was when 1. the thai place in Soi 11 was converted to LemonCello 2. the Pickled Factory in Rajvithee closed down )

For other options try:

Witch's OYster bar at Ruamrudee (not the one in Suk 55!) - the best tuna steak Ive had, ever!! nice cosy setting...good food, great selection of drinks.

you can choose to sit out in the garden on cushions (perhaps after the meal, while having drinks?)

ohhh...by the way someone mentioned RotSabiang in Suk 11...the food is alright, but I wouldnt consider the place 'romantic' Not sure if Zanzibar in same soi is still around...for decor that might be a better option. For Thai food in Soi 11, there is a place in the sub soi near the 7-11 ....I forget what its called. Small place, waitresses dressed in old style Thai costume, and they also talk in that old fashioned way, food is served in old fashioned utensils. It feels touristy perhaps, but Ive eaten there lots of times, and the food is authentic, and the atmosphere is certainly close to romantic

For 3000 Baht you can have your own private roadside fold-up table and chairs on Suk 38 with a fine selection of fried this and that along with 8 big bottles of Leo or Chang. I prefer the green with street food. The red is better as an aperitif.

For another 500 Baht you can get a few lottery sellers to serenade you with misguided visions of grandeur.

For a chicken bone or two, a selection of soi dogs will join in and provide you with some insecurity and down to earth ambiance.

To round it off, keep 100 baht in your pocket to get some crappy roses from one of the lil flower sellers.

If she still loves you after this night out...marry her quick quick.

I did the Dinner Cruise on the old rice barge and it was fantastic, they have 2, one that leaves around 6pm, going up the river its getting dark and coming back it is, the views boths ways are great, the food is very good, drinks reasonable and very romantic!!

For Thai, the Lemongrass restaurant on Suk Soi 24 (I think?- it's the one next to Emporium) has a very pleasant little courtyard- nice inside too. It specialises in Thai salads, not too fiery. The banana flower salad is my favourite. You quite often see media types there too, which your TG will probably love. Well within your budget.

Thanks John. Although I was being purely sarcastic there was a little truth about what I wrote. Sure it won't appeal to hiso types like Migsy, but then again if I had added in a stop at a bakery on the way home it might have swayed her vote.

Hmmm seems to me you mentioned football first, however romantic it may be.

Another idea for the OP would be to ditch his GF / Wife and bring his 3000 to Soi Cowboy and treat me to an evening of football, beer and football.

Failing that he could go to the crossbar and pay Toady's rent for the month. Who knows if you kiss him he may turn into a prince.
