Capealava Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Can new credit cards, debit cards From USA banks or Credit unions be sent to Thailand. If so how do you activate them, since 1-800 number do not work oversea
Namphonny Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 I am not sure if this helps because it refers to the UK. However, my bank (Natwest) reluctantly posted a credit card but you won't believe this - because I didn't - it can only be activated at an ATM machine IN THE UK!!! It gets worse. I did return to the UK and I did activate it and checked that it was working but when I got back here it was immediately blocked when I tried to use it. I phoned and managed to get it unblocked but guess what - it needs to be re-activated again. Needless to say, I shall be changing banks when I next go back. The absurdity of the logic of this is that I can still use the card on-line or where a paper slip is used. This means that anyone who steals it and knows the PIN can have a field day but the legitimate owner cannot use it at an outlet where ID might be needed. So, my advice is check very carefully with your bank that this situation cannot arise.
gotlost Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Yes credit cards can be sent to over seas from the US. To activate just call the toll free number but you will pay for an overseas call.
