Consumer Priority Service - How Many Years Of Coverage Should I Buy For My Apple Macbook Pro 17"?

Featured Replies

I recently purchased a Apple Mac Book Pro 17" online. It costs me $2299 plus shipping. If thr unit should have an issue over the next few years I want to be fully covered so I will be purchasing the Consumer Priority Service extended warranty as well. The online dealer offers a 2 year or a 3 year for about $100 more, Is it worth the extra money for the 3 year warranty?

Firstly, great choice of purchase - that's a fantastic machine.

Although I usually think that a 2-year warranty is optimal, in the case of Apple, the 3-year warranty is excellent value for money; you get lots of convenient service options in Thailand, and the warranty will give you global repair coverage for parts and labor and telephone support for a bargain price. The ratio of purchase-to-warranty price is highly favorable.

Edit. the warranty is one thing but don't overlook insurance of course! Members of Thai Visa forum can apply for TVLaptop insurance through a TV broker.

A 17" is quite an investment, so choose the longest cover possible. You never know when a helpful security guard will offer to help you take your cases and bags and drop your laptop bag.

*shakes fist*

definitely get the 3 year apple care. My MBP needed fans, battery, and speakers replaced. Buy the warranty on Ebay or Amazon. You just need the Serial # to register. It's about half the price of retailers in Thailand and significantly less than directly from Apple.
