Embassy Hotel, Near Chatujak / Saphan Kwai

Featured Replies

I used to always stay at the Embassy Hotel in Saphan Kwai, close to Chatujak Market. The hotel is located down a small side soi. It is cheap - farang price is 700 baht a night, Thai price (not advertised) is 400 baht a night.

Old hotel, but big rooms. Excellent Thai and farang breakfast, lunch and dinner in specious dining room. I have never seen another farang in the place. It has a large swimming pool out the front, which is little used by guests, but I like it.

I haven't stayed at the Embassy Hotel for around 12 months as the last visit there the room was invaded by cockroaches. One or two I can live with - when I turned on the light to go to the toilet early in the morning - there were dozens of the blighters.

Needless to say, even this was too much for he who must be obeyed - so we stayed at the Ambassador Hotel - 1500 baht a night - very nice, but zero atmosphere.

I would like to go back to the Embassy Hotel (lots of happy memories) - I hope the cockroaches were just a temporary thing - a result of the large amount of building and demolition of old buildings nearby.

The Embassy Hotel doesn't have a website - even their invoices are typed on a manual typewriter ...

Has anybody stayed there recently - and can give me an update ???

Peter
