sleepyjohn
Hi I see the latest TVs have USB ports on the side. I assume I can play video material downloaded from the internet via laptop then a thumb drive then through the USB port. Correct? It seems to me this will become more available and therefore desirable. So would be nice to have on the TV. Pretty expensive though. If I get a DVD player with a USB port on it and connect to the TV would it perform the same function? thanks
OriginalPoster
It depends on the TV, some TV's only allow viewing of still photos via the USB input. Edited December 21, 2009 by OriginalPoster
garyh
I have a Pioneer DVD Player with the USB port, plays most video formats, will also play MP3's through the amplifier without having TV on. Recently I built a home theatre computer, some cases now for these have an Ipod dock on the front.

When I look at the spec cards next to the DVD players they are very non-specific about what the USB will handle. What should I look for? 2008bangkok
Just look for DIVX somewhere on teh DVD player, this is pretty much the standard format from internet these days.... The family range of DVD players are a good inespensive choice, you can get a good DVD and speakers for 2k
Spoonman
I would be suprised in this day and age to not be able to buy a DVD payer that plays everything.

Slaps
I can use a 16g flash drive OK but when I plug in a USB 500g hard drive it won't load does that mean there is a limit in the TV or DVD player?
