Hi everybody

Anyone know if there are laws regulating the export of silver in small amount? Do you have to declare it at the costoms when leaving Thailand? What happens if they "catch" you leaving Thailand or entering a European country with more then "unresonable-amount-of-silver-for-the-big-family"?

Thank's for your time

UK (Which may=Europe nowadays) you are permitted to bring in GBP145 worth of goods.....not for resale.

What happens when breaching regulations in UK? One of the following 1. Nothing 2. confiscation 3. Confiscation and prosecution (probable fine) at the discretion of the customs officer.

Or

4. Pay the Duty on their estimated value of the goods. As long as it is not a silly amount.

Some countries require your personal mark stamped on silver (or gold...). Because of that, check with your customs first because if you don't declare and get caught, you might never get it back...

Hello Gents,

For the UK Customs will not usually bother too much for items like silver/gold.

That is as long as you are not trying to import wholesale quantanties.

Up to about £300 you will probably be 'guided' that the items were a little over priced. If you don't manage to follow that prompt, you may be lucky enough to get the response that the person concerned cannot be bothered to do the paperwork for the duty payable. After that you really have over done it or you could well be stupid!

Not sure about the response for the other EU countries.
