Marjolein Bakker, officer of the Consular Department of the Dutch embassy in Bangkok,

will visit Chiang Mai Wednesday January 27 for a consular consulting hour,

that will take place that day from 10.00 to 14.30.

Location: Mokador, Samlam Road 3/11, A. Muang, Chiang Mai 50200.

Don't forget that for new passports fingerprints are required, so they can not be applied for in Chiang Mai.

For all other certificates, bring the original documents needed and make photo copies of these as well to speed

up the procedures.

A visit might save you a trip to Bangkok!

On behalf of Marjolein: Welcome!

Limbo :)

I did not know that you had apply for a finger print, I thought we always had them with us.

:)

Sorry that I didn't explain it very well in English.

What I meant is that you can't apply for a new passport at the consulting hour of the

officer of the embassy.

The reason that you can't apply for it that you are required to give your fingerprint.

What I understand is, that there is a special machine to process the fingerprints in a

way that they can be added in some mysterious way to your passport.

The officer of the consular department will not be able to bring this machine with her to Chiang Mai.

The reason I don't know.

Maybe because they only have one and use it at the embassy or maybe it is too big and too heavy to carry around.

Maybe there are security reasons.

The reason that fingerprints are one of the ways to identify the bearer of the passport is indeed what you

mentioned in your posting: You have them always with you.

I am sorry that I didn't manage to make this clear in my posting.

Thank you very much for pointing it out.

So for everybody who had the same problems as SM7WGP understanding my posting:

If you want to apply for a new passport you can not do this during the consular hour.

Proof of income, attesta de vita and other certificates you don't need to give your fingerprints for,

so these you can apply for.
