If it's not too much trouble, please give some details, address, what you had to send, cost, type of payment, photos, name, etc....would sure be appreciated. I sent a letter to Seattle but wasn't overjoyed with the response. Maybe it was just a bad day for her. I live in southern California, plenty old, plenty pension, plenty bank acct. just need info. The L. A. office is a bitch so I hear. Thanks, Ernie

[A review of the information at Thai Visa will yeield the correct info. Please take not the your OA still required a a Non Immi Re-Entyr permit. The One year windopw for you vias will begin upon your first entry into the kingdom whilst arriving on that visa. If you exit without the reentry permit you have exhausted your OA visa. The Non-Imm re-entyr permit will be valit until the expiry date of you visa, one year from you first entry. About the TM Card (commonly know as Arrival card) ...First arrival note the Visa number. All arrivals after that you must note the number of your Non Imm Re-entry permit. Where to get the Reentry permit....Off to Thai Imm. See this site for info on that permit. It took me about 40 minutes and 3800 Baht. (BTW lriggh across the street from Immi is a Thai Police shop where you cna get some cool shirts, hats, patches etc or a nice coffee shop. Thsi information is based on actual experieinces within the last 45 days.....L

When we were registering our marriage with the embassy before moving to Thailand, we found them very helpful at the L.A. consulate and the website has lots of good information too, way better than the DC embassy site. They gave us good information and service. No problem with the multiple entry visa either. That's why I was kind of curious why he sent his paperwork to Denver.

We should try to understand how the overseas missions work, be it embassies or consulates or honorary consulates. I am just an 'outsider looking in' so keep it in layman's language.

The chain of order goes down from the Ministry (MFA) wo tells the embassies what visa can be issued for which purpose. Accordingly the embassy passes on the instructions to the consular section as well as to the consulates in their region incl. HC. They might even limit the power of some consulates to issue only certain visa or give internal guidelines on documents needed.

Within this frame work the section decide what paperwork they want to see and the officer in charge might on his own request more paperwork. Such right is in the rules.

As long as your application for a visa is legit and your documentation watertight you will get the visa at any competent place. If you want to go an easier way, less documents, less trouble you might wish to read in TV experience of others and perhaps try for yourself.

So it might help to know Denver is friendly, Houston was mentioned often. In UK I hear Hull. In Switzerland I understand Zurich, in Germany Karlsruhe, Frankfurt, Hamburg.

All these consulates do not issue a visa in contradiction to the official rules, they just might make life easier instead of insisting on the last copy of a document.

I give you an example what I mean. My son wanted to renew his Thai driving licence, although he no longer lives in Thailand. So I told him to apply for a non-imm B and arranged for a sponsoring letter. He went to a Honorary Consulate in Europe, visa refused as he has not yer any graduation diploma. Now in some places that would be it, finished, you can have a tourist visa.

That place was more helpful and adviced him, "if you can bring us proof that you work without salary to learn, it is in our power to give you a non-imm Ed".

That place was HELPFUL. He got the Ed and subsequently got his DL. I mentioned this story before and no guarantee it will happen again.
