Chatuporn "Joy" Saengthong, who came third in the pageant, was exposed after a Thai newspaper published a 1996 wedding photograph of her and her husband. She has been disqualified and will not receive the US$7,500 prize, a statement from the organisers said. She was unavailable for comment. "People who apply to compete in Miss Thailand World have to be single," said Sirikorn Phuekcan, a spokeswoman for the pageant's organisers. She said Chatuporn, 24, indicated on her application that she was single. "It's written that it's forbidden to be married, or have ever gotten married," Sirikorn said. The pageant committee does not intend to place anyone into the second runner-up position to replace her. They just don't get caught out with wedding photos published in newspapers. It's definitely not uncommon for many modern couples to get married but keep different last names (including the wife keeping "nang sao" status). Somebody must explain this to me: 'Joy' got fired because she was married but the marriage was not registered. A farang who marrries, without registering, will not be elegible for a married-visa... But from what I've read in Thai webboards, people's criticisms towards her are pretty harsh. Most of the boards I have been say that she deserved the punishment since she lied. Well, it seems that they think a ceremony is enough for Joy to be 'married'. I think if the rules state that she has to be single meaning not married then the fact that she is not LEGALLY married definitely count. She is still LEGALLY single and that's what the rules ask for. Technically any Thai who marries a foreigner before the law changed could not buy land or own homes plus other stuff. So this cindy stuff is blah. I would rather that they present themselves based on skills rather than flesh. How many can sew, or cook, or iron, or is intelligent enough to say to the pageant organizers to dream on, cause the dough given is not worth their time. Just for one playboy pic snapshot by the photographer costs playboy 20 grand. And that is still with clothes on my friends. Any comments? DaveYo Posted November 5, 2003 Share Posted November 5, 2003 Dr PP, my present wife who is Thai could not register herself of her marriage in which she had a previous relationship with someone else and she was with him for over 12 years and he was British. When I first met her 2 years ago I questioned her on this subject and this is what I was told and from many others who also confirmed it. The best she could do was only a religious ceremony and I have seen those pics and that was it. Also Dr. PP, if you could be so kind enough please check it out yourself that there was such a law about thai women who makes such attempt to register themselves being married to foreigners. It was changed not too long ago to favor thais. Before, accordingly if what i remember also reading if there was such a marriage, they could not own land or home, so my present wife never registered her previous marriage. She even showed me that previous old law. I believe I can confirm this and I will point you to where that law was previously once i dust out my papers here. DaveYo Posted November 5, 2003 Share Posted November 5, 2003 Well Ed, you made me laugh a bit here, but on the topic I can say this if you were to simply just make inquiries to many women, I would think you will find many cannot sew, or even cook, or even keep house or something simple ironing the clothes without burning nice iron marks on it. I myself know quite a few who either cannot do all or maybe just one or two. Since I am military trained, we had to learn to be domesticated or get the chewing out of a lifetime. Therefore this indeed help me being a member of the male species, and of course the boy scouts outdoor sportsmanship also taught me a bit on survival, along with the military training I received. By the way incidently it is somewhat a known fact that some of the he-she's do quite a bit better than the genetic females when it comes to the basic house chores. I wonder why? This has me puzzled when one considers that a pure genetic woman should do this by instinct. ?? For me sewing now needs a huge magnifying glass just to find that itty bitty hole in the needle. Besides from all the "Katoey's" shows I saw in Bangkok they got em all beat for beauty, curves, butt and very tall, however the bigger hands and feet get in the way. Once outside the show, take a photo with one, compare it too what is running for queen of the beauty show and see just how effective Thai facial femminization surgery or <deleted> has been. When I compare the photo of the "Ladyboys" and my girl friend, I must say the "Ladyboys" look better. So, I was wondering just wondering?
