I clicked on ever button and also right clicked but cannot find where it says to password protect. Any help will be appreciated thanks

Did all this many times, this is what is in the help files. I click my file and saves as a different name [dont understand why but I do it] I go to tools but there is no general options button but there is an option button and within that there are many choices including general, none of them mention password>

thanks for the try. anyone else know how to do this? It can be done because I have several i did last year but cannot find anything that says password

You need to do the "save as" but then DO NOT save it yet, in the "save box" you will see a TOOLS TAB then select "general options" then it pops up a "Save Options" with password option.

Maybe you are looking in the main excel screens tools tab ?

I just installed Office 2000 on my test pc to try this and its works.

Just posted before me , good u found it , I was maken some screenshots to illustrate what I meant but no need for that now.
