January 24, 201016 yr Hi all, firstly like to say thanks for all the great advice before. Another question, me and my fiancee are going to the register to give notice of marriage tommorow, from what i have been readingthe internet i thought it was generally filling in the usual details like name and address but after speaking to a friend of mine who is getting married this year and had to give notice last week he said he and his fiancee were taken to a room separately and asked questions to see if they match. Is this true and would anyone have any idea what questions they will ask? Now i know why they said can my fiancee speak good enough english without me. My friend said they asked him if his dad was still alive and whats his fiancee's middle name, just abit over the top. Thanks
January 25, 201016 yr This didn't happen to me, but that was 2 years ago. I know they are trying to crack down on sham marriages with foreigners trying to get UK visas. They should only ask her the standard questions, her name, occupations, date of birth, age, address etc. Just in case they do ask anything else, make sure she knows your full name, your DoB, your age and occupation, and close family members names (mum, dad, brothers, sisters etc.).
January 25, 201016 yr The registry office may ask each of you some questions to ascertain that the marriage is genuine and that your fiance understands what is going on. She may take someone with her to translate, but this cannot be you. Marriage and civil partnership: your legal obligations gives details of documents required etc.
