webfact
Mother drowns after rescuing 4 children PHITSANULOK: -- A mother Friday drowned in a river after successfully helping her four children to safety. The children were between three and 11 years old. "Mom helped me and my three siblings to a bamboo stick before she disappeared," the oldest child Chanchai Kruaboon said. Passerby Ounruen Kerdpin, 50, said she extended the bamboo stick to the accident victims in the river after seeing their pickup run right into the river. "In all, I could save four children and one man," Ounruen said. The man, Somsak Kruaboon, was seriously injured. He is the father of the four children and drove the pickup at the time of the accident. -- The Nation 2010-01-29 [newsfooter][/newsfooter]

animatic
Yes a horrible tragedy. Mothers will use their last bit of strength to save the children, and have none left for themselves, and yet some men will still look down on them in so many places... RIP brave mother. inquisitive
Mothers will use their last bit of strength to save the children, and have none left for themselves, and yet some men will still look down on them in so many places... Such a sad and touching tragedy whatever the gender. I even know some men that would use their last bit of strength to save the children and have none left for themselves, and yet some men still look down at them in so many places. RIP Valiant One. ThailandTommy
A sad sad story, obviously a very brave lady, it sounds like the children and father are very lucky to escape, it could have easily ended with the whole family being wiped out. kiwiinasia
Yes a horrible tragedy.Mothers will use their last bit of strength to save the children, and have none left for themselves, and yet some men will still look down on them in so many places... RIP brave mother. And yet men often lay down their lives for society (ie fight wars) and society treats them with little or no respect...
