UK Settlement Visa Processing Times

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I know there used to be a very long topic about settlement visas and how long each person had waited but it has died down in last few weeks so my question is for anyone who has applied and recieved a visa so far this year how long did you have to wait?

My reason is my wife is submitting her visa application next week and I would like to return to Thailand in April and then have her return to the UK with me then, this will give us 10 weeks for an answer to be given and I would hope this is enough time.I really would like to start making plans before flights become expensive and limited.

P.S I know it say allow 12 weeks but as far as I can tell processing times were coming down to a couple of weeks and I also know our visa is not guaranteed.

Thanks James.

For settlement decisions in December: 50% within 5 working days, 68% within 10, 82% within 15, 100% within 90.

3-15 days.

Just submitted Wife & Daughter settlement application today.

VFS very busy wife was in there just under 3 hours handing the applications in.

We asked how long got the standard reply up to 12 weeks may be a month.

They did say not many settelment applications being submitted at the moment.

Most are tourist and student.

Will let you know when we get the Passports back we hope to return to the UK on the 23rd Feb.

Fingers crossed I did read the embassy tables like 7by7 post above so hoping we are in the 68%.

Can you please try to be a little more precise in your future posts. :)

Does anyone know if it is ok for Thais to apply for settlement visas (and visitor visas) in other countries? i.e. not from Thailand?

We are currently in Turkey, and although I can't see anything that would prevent us applying from here, I can also imagine the case where the application was rejected and we were told to do it from Thailand. I recently had that experience with the Indian embassy in Turkey where they said I would have to apply from the UK for ANY visa to India, and my wife would have to apply from Thailand (needless to say we did not go!).

It depends on your status in Turkey.

Normally one has to apply for a UK visa in one's country of residence; so if your wife is resident in Turkey that's fine.

We applied for a settlement visa on the 29th January and have not heard anything yet. Fingers crossed it should be in the next week or two :)

I applied for my wife on 14th December... Still waiting.

Submitted Wife & Step Daughter on the 1st Feb 2010, Both Granted in 7 working days.

Wifes went in on the 26th of Jan, still waiting, 11 working days out of a possible 90 now

hahaha

Just got told by the wife its ready to pick up

I hope it's good news :)

surely a 10 working day wait and no extra questions is a yes

Wife collect her visa today so its been about 12 days turnaround.

Just booked her flight to Manchester so she will be here on wednesday :)

Good luck to everyone still waiting. It shouldn't be too long.

  • 3 weeks later...

In my wifes Settlement Visa application it took 6 weeks, they text to say its ready for collection at Bangkok, forget about the online tracking facility,it only ever says "application has been recieved"

On the UK Border Agency website they have a Table of current times taken for Visa settlement applications.

My wife submitted her application on the 11th Feb. No news yet :)

I wonder if the 2 day closure of the Embassy on the 8th and 9th Feb has caused a small backlog.
