Try www.alibaba.com a website which is very reliable for importing/exporting goods from the Far East with thousands of products.

China is a lot cheaper though than TH.

The best way I found to do that stuff is research and more research. Go to Pratanam or Bobbet, find someone who will supply (their mark-up os often only small) at a good wholesale price. Wholesale is in units of 12. Or you need to find the factories and place orders.

It can take up to 3 months to find the correct factory.

You have to be so careful with quality control. Shirts can look grea in a plastic bag, get them out and the collars etc are wrong, the button holes are strange etc.

Good luck.

The right source mainly depends on the quantities you require. If you only have a few hundred or few thousand units in mind factories are not interested in doing the deal because it is just not worth carrying out a production run. Most companies in Thailand do not keep stock but soley produce to order.

Only if your are looking at an absolute minimum of 10,000 units plus of certain clothing you may want to consider approaching the factories directly. Otherwise rather stick to the retailers/wholesalers for example in Pratunahm or Bobbay area.

In the past things have been even more complicated because of the quota regulations but with those skipped in the EU as of the beginning of this year procedures have eased quite a bit.

Since mighty China was mentioned (once again) I can not let it go without a little comment. They (still) have the cheap prices but well quite often the quality is poor or even sucks. One gets what one pays for. If someone wants to join the big China blinded crowd because of their dumping price policy just go ahead but if quality at a moderate price is the issue rather stick to Thailand. Chinese prices and Thai quality is something that does not mix and is out of reality. Be realistic in your expectations.

The are indeed lots of trading boards on the net but a big share posting there are quite often crooks and/or amateurs trying to make an easy deal but legitimate business is not easy in reality. So beware who you are going to spend your time with. Take the time to check out the background of your partners-to-be carefully to avoid wasting valuable resources and to avoid dissapointments.

If you are eventually ready to place an actual order or have a shipment arranged make sure that you have consulted with customs at the country of destination before to avoid that a shipment is being stopped or even seized in the importing country. Clothing in particular need special labelling in terms of the textile and/or textile mix they have been made of and also caring and washing instructions. In certain cases a certificate of origin and also certification about the dyes used in the production process may be required.

Keep in mind international trading is not easy and lots of aspects need to be considered but hope the aforementioned gives you at least some guidelines to start.

Heaps of luck

I know of some small manufacturers who will be very happy to prepare orders of hundrands or thousands of items. You won't find them on the web or listed in any other directory, and you will certainly need to be very careful, supervising the quality, labeling, fabrics they use, etc. But if you can do that, the price you'd pay will be significantly lower than in Bobae or Pratunam.
