The Best Longest Running Visa For Marraige And Residence In Thailand

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I want to start with thanking everyone for there input on this great site First Post and sure not my last. My question is Due to the shifting sands of the laws and requirements and a little confusion reading old threads can anyone please give me some advise and direction so i can start on the right foot with all Matters Thai !

A brief outline of my Situation : I am 37 Australian and Thai Girlfriend 30 with 1 Child to Previous Thai Partner She is a Nurse, I am Truck Driver/Mechanic/Ex Army Parra, Now in IT and Sales and run small import export business based in Australia. I hope to expand this from Thailand and to spend most of my time in Thailand.

My Question is: What should i Aim for as in Type of Visa App I intend to live and stay with my Defacto/Wife at her house and While i am in Thailand for a 30 day visit this year what should i do while i am there to save time, Would it be advisable to get married this time round or wait till i return later in the year would getting married earlier speed up the process for the Visa or allow me to obtain a better Visa? By Better i mean Longer times without the hassle of these Border Runs? Is it sufficient to cross into Laos to recycle the Visa ? Is there an Easier way ?

Sorry for the misguided Question but im really snowed under with all the complexity of the Visa Issue.

Any Help Much Appreciated! :)

Probably the best you could hope for would be a Multi Entry Non Imm O Visa to visit friends.

This would give up to 15 month and would mean a border run every 90 days.

Perth will issue if you provide a copy of your girlfriends ID Card and a letter from her asking you to issue the Visa.

If you were to marry her you would have more options.

400,000 Baht in a Thai bank OR 40,000 Baht monthly income would get you 12 month extensions without having to leave Thailand.

You would then have to Re Apply every year meeting the same financial requirements.

Great Stuff Litebeer, It is about what i thought but you cleared alot of muck there nice and simple!

When you say Perth are you refering to the Western Australian capital ? and if so why Perth ?

Mainly because im located near the Gold Coast its a fair Hike to Perth from here!

The consulate is Perth is "friendly".

The only consulate in Australia that gives out non-O based on "visiting friends".

Normally Non-O is for retirement or based on marriage.

Ok Sounds Good, I assume this can all be done through post or via Email then ?

Brisbane consulate will also issue with signed copy of ID card/passport of Thai national. Website link here.
