Could anyone please teach me a little bit about the plight of the kachin people in northern Burma.

Apparently a small war may soon break out. Any updates on this? Why would this be so?

Who exactly are they?

Where exactly do they live? What is the name of this area,capital city?

Are they the people the British promised a separate homeland to if they helped fight the Japanese- but did not.

Thanks for any info and lets hope theirs no more pointless waste of life's.

Try a BBC web site and search they did a piece on them just the other day. They are one of many groups in Myanmar which are anti junta, but maybe the largest.
