Phone Dialer Crushes Windows 7

Featured Replies

Every time I tried to run the Phone Dialer program, my system (Win7 Home Premium 32bit) crushed (and restarts).

What's wrong?

P.S. I'm on ADSL line with Netgear DG834 Modem Router.

Your netgear modem/router does not have the ability to dial numbers, you need a dialup modem in your computer to do that.

And be connected to a regular phone line rather than ADSL.

Then less than Baht 200 will enable you to dial and talk - if you buy a VOICE modem card.

Thank you all for the replies.

Is it "VOICE modem card" an external one connected via USB and phone jack? Does it available in online stores? Would appreciate if someone could point to one.

Perhaps it would be best to advise why/what you are planning to use it for so we don't advise something you do not need or want. Most people use ADSL for phone calls at little or no charge using Skype or such program.

Yes a voice modem, if you have a notebook PC it should have one built in, if not the cheaper ones are a internal card external dialup modems are hard to find now. Should be able to get it through any computer shop.

I'd like to make an occasional local call using my PC (when my phone is busy). I have several phone lines. Skype charges for local calls are more expensive, AFAIK.

The new skype plans give you calls everywhere including Thai mobile phones for €8.95/month http://www.skype.com/intl/en/allfeatures/s...&country=TH otherwise why not just buy another phone rather trying to do it through the PC?
