A Little Insect At My Home

Featured Replies

I found a few little fellows like this on on the walls (they seem to prefer corners) of my room:

Before they decide for a more permanent spot where they seem to grow into something

I couldn't find out so far, they crawl accross the rooms with about 1 cm/hour ....

Does anyone know what that is and if these little fellows involve any danger (health risks, damage to cotton etc.)?

If so, how can I get rid of them - preferably, without killing them?

thanks,

p.

Perhaps if you taped a piece of paper to the wall right in front of him, and then when he crawls across onto the paper (assuming he wants to), place a jar over the paper and then remove the lot from the wall and take him out to the garden.

Be vary careful, these little mites can be voracious. They are called Jatupornis Pramphornicus. Don't use either the Bangkok Post or The Nation or the little bugger will refuse to move. You also have another difficulty in determining where to place the paper as you cannot always tell which is its head or its backside.

What about using one of the classifieds pages of the Post, (as it's broadsheet and we don't know how much the little fella is gonna grow overnight), and cut a circular hole in the middle big enough to fit over him, so then whichever way he moves, he'll end up on the paper, viola! Mites in the jar!

Excellent solution. Only one snag. The little buggers so used to spending his life going round and round in ever decreasing circles, you still might not be able to get him on the paper.

I had something like that in my place I swept them off the . Then swept then up into my dustcatcher and threw them out on the street. Easy no touching them and no killing them.

Also known as case bearing moth. Lots of good info at http://www.the-piedpiper.co.uk/th8b.htm

They climb up our walls and hang from the ceiling. Using a vacuum seems to be the best way to reduce their numbers.

Just drop it in a Jar of Baking flower, Wait for it to fart , then you will know which end the head is.
