I've lost count of the printers and printer/scanner combos I have gone through over the last 10 yrs. Maybe 1 per year. have had HP, Canon, Epson, ...........they all fail after 1 yr on average.

Canon seems to be the best so far, but my 2 yr old canon just bit the dust and i need to replace it.

With all the new models of all brands, what to choose for reliability, user friendlinesss, refilable ink cartriges and priced around 2,000thb for printer/scanner combo??

Thanks in advance.......

ive used loads of different printers to and i used to sell them in the UK at computer fairs imho HP are the best quality but you cant get cheap ink for them that easy so there expensive to run in the UK i used epson on the grounds the copy ink was so cheap if the printer didnt last that long ie a couple of years it was still cheaper to run . Out here ive been using a cannon mp 258 printer scanner (cost just over 2000bht) seems pretty good and cheap ink so i would recommend that to me its alright buying the best quality printer /scanner but if it costs loads to run it makes it much more expensive than the cheap ink brands

I've been using HP for many years and have never been disappointed with the quality. I got a Deskjet D2560 over a year ago and it still works just great.....and at draft setting the darned thing spits out the paper so fast it's like one of those machines in the movies that goes berserk.

Also today's machines are far cheaper than they used to be....this one cost only 1,560 baht. If it breaks you can just throw it away and buy another !!

Was in Tescos Lotus yesterday and saw a Canon copier/scanner/printer for under 2000baht, a Pixma but not sure of the number. But saw the prices of the cartridges that made me think again. Do not touch Brother, they are okay for the first few times then absolutely crap after that.

Me too.

I'm looking at a stack now that cannot be refurbished.

I bought a u-beaut Pixma 988 for 10,000bt, bad move!

The <deleted> ink is so expensive, 2 x 9ml & 1 x19ml just cost me 1200bt, <deleted>. :)

I don't print anything larger than 6x4"

Next time, I'll buy a tanker model from the vendors at the Mall, Phet Kasem.

Can someone explain why the print heads can't be cleaned in a printer that has been dormant?

Keep us posted about your next printer purchase. :D

Once you have invested a bit more in a laser printer you will nver go back to inkjet.

I bought my first laser printer about 5 years ago, and have just replaced it as I wanted a combo. the prices have come right down these days, and you get high quality printing that never jams and the cartridge, although expensive, lasts 'forever', especially if you use the economy mode which gives you perfectly good quality. You can literally print thousands of pages before the cartridge needs replacing. I only replaced mine once in 5 years.

I recently bought a Brother laser printer, scanner, fax combo which is a wonderful piece machinery and only cost around 7,000 Baht. Even cheaper if you don't want the fax.

The only drawback is that it is black and white only - which shouldn't be a problem for most people. How often do you really need to print on colour? And you can always keep a cheapo ink jet printer for such needs.

My choice were Canon printers. Last year I couldn't find replacement EXPENSIVE ink tanks. I bought a refill kit and did what I wanted to do. The next time I wanted to use the printer, I got a print head failure message. It was off to my computer store. A new print head was 2,500 baht.

I ended up with an HP F4280 for 2,500 baht. It copies, scans and prints great. A print cartridge costs about 500 baht and lasts for 200 pages. I'll never buy an expensive printer again. I am on my second black ink cartridge and have had the printer more than a year. When it does die, I'll buy another HP.

your best buy for this price will the canon mp145, possible to refill the cartridges and reset the printer memory.

i bought mine a year ago, very satisfied.

The main advantage with HP is that the print cartridge also contains a print head so every time you replace a cartridge you're getting a new print head as well.

CHEAP ??

If you buy cheap

you get cheap........

Are you sure. I paid 8,000 baht for my Canon and the ink tanks were ridiculously expensive. I refilled them one time, had a print head failure and a replacement print head was 2,500 baht. I still have that Canon and would be happy to sell it to a Canon fan. It's a Canon i70.

My four-year old Epson printer crapped out last week, and I bought an el cheapo Epson Stylus T11 at Office Depot for B1390 on impulse.

Ay ay ay ay ay, is that thing NOISY!!! Print quality seems good, but it shrieks like a banshee when feeding paper.

Know the feeling Jai,im on my 5th Printer in as many years.

What really hisses me off is the following, read the blurb 20 pages per minute so they claim, normally 3 letters per minute,OK so I dont need the speed, prints fine for about 2 weeks and nice and smooth mechanics, then they start, clank click clank, whir click clank,2 minutes later it prints a half a page document.

Could'nt recommend anything in particular, but I have a HP DeskJet F4272 all in one, which does great copies and scans, havent had any trouble yet after 9 months, but yes also does the the initial clonk click whir mechanics before it will print a document.
