Rj 81 Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Hi everyone Does anybody know the best day to go to the british embassy to make an application for g/f visit visa? I believe getting the friday afternoon slot is the best as they want to get out of work asap, therefore granting visa instead of refusing because of less paper work!! Rj
samran Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 (edited) Couple of holes to that theory: 1) Visas apps (when done in person) can only be done very early in the morning. 2) A new fangled thing called an in-tray. A consular worker can leave their work there over the weekend. Plus, the embassy doesn't guarantee same day visa turn around anyway. 3) Contrary to what many here prefer to believe, unless you are the ambassador, working in an embassy isn't all Pims and lemonade, long lunches and tennis on the weekend. Diplomats actually tend to work hard, are usually pretty bright and take their jobs seriously. 4) And finally, are you mates with the bloke who was in front of me at the consular section abusing the consular lady for being "a good for nothing G&T sipping so-and-so", wasting mine and everyones time who were waiting patiently for our paperwork to be processed? Kinda sounds like you have been talking to him thats all. Edited June 3, 2005 by samran
the scouser Posted June 3, 2005 Posted June 3, 2005 Hi Rj, Yes, Samran is correct. Whilst scheduled interviews are conducted in the afternoon, you have to actually make the application in the morning. If you can't get there in person, a postal application can be made. 3) Contrary to what many here prefer to believe, unless you are the ambassador, working in an embassy isn't all Pims and lemonade, long lunches and tennis on the weekend. When I was in Manila we always used to make an early dart on a Friday to get down to P. Burgos St......... Scouse.
Dragonman Posted June 4, 2005 Posted June 4, 2005 Samran, I didn't work for the Government overseas but they must have a tighter regime than in the UK. Wouldn't have stayed for nearly 30 years without the Pims and lemonade, long lunches and golf at the weekend
