welo
I assume you can ping your PC from the lady's PC? Try to access the file share on your PC using the IP address, e.g. \\192.168.1.31\music Sometimes NETBIOS name resolving is not reliable. Btw, did you use the Windows 7 homegroup thingy or create a network share 'manually'? welo
Supernova
Here's a simple checklist: 1. Make sure computers are in the SAME workgroup. -- The following settings apply to Win7 -- 2. Make sure Network and Sharing Center is configured as "Home" or "Work" Note: If the network group is set to 'Public', your Windows 7 system won't be seen by Windows XP machines on the network. 3. Turn off Password Protected Sharing. 4. Enable Network Discovery.

sammycic
when i set up the same as what you want to do win 7 help says to change workgroup to WORKGROUP in system properties>computer name on the XP machine. hope this helps. actually in win7 help tells you how to do it. mine works well in both directions. my problem is win 7 will not see my dreambox connection but no problem to see it in my network places on the XP machine in view workgroup computers Edited April 23, 2010 by sammycic
