U.s. Congressman Faleomavaega

Weren't there objectons to U.S. intervention prior to knowing that such an initiative might support the Abhisit government? What has changed?

It should be made clear that Congressman Faleomavaega represents American Samoa, a south pacific unincorporated territory of 77 square miles and 58,000 inhabitants, the equivalent of a very small town in America. Most Americans have never heard of American Samoa and only a small fraction that have heard of it can tell you where it is or anything about it, residents of Hawaii notwithstanding because Samoans typically migrate to Hawaii for jobs or college. Such was the case of the congressman.
