Expidite Thai Passport Extension At Thai Consulate In Los Angeles?

Featured Replies

I'm just throwing this out there in the hopes that someone might know. I won't be able to find out "officially" for several more hours.

Short story:

- Thai wife needs an extension on her passport, which expired in Jan.

- Need it ASAP

- Recorded message at consulate says it takes minimum 1 week to process

Anyone know if its possible to expedite this service? If so, any idea how much? Normal processing is $35.

The Thai Consulate web pages are HORRIBLE, as I've already checked all 3.

It would help to know which consulate you are referring to. And its unlikely an expired passport can be extended. She will need a new one.

Thai Consulate in Los Angeles (See subject). And it can be extended. Of that I'm sure from both their website and phone service. Here's isn't an "e-passport", those can't be extended. Her old one can, but only until the end of July, which gives her time to get a new passport.

Also to be clear, I don't actually expect an answer. I was just posting this on the off chance someone on here had recent experience and could save me the suspense or knew what phrases to use to get faster service.

Ok, so here's the answer. They were able to issue a new temp passport, good for 1 year, same day. Cost was USD $10.
