Batt Discharge Laptop

Featured Replies

I am using a laptop. Whenever my computer charges up battery for some reason it switches off electric power and runs off battery again. As soon as I replug in the electric it recharges the battery until fully charged and then uses battery again. Would I need a new power supply cord or ??? Thanks

Seems the power supply is working it charges the batt, but does not switch to line mode and replugging it just puts it in charge mode again till charged. Easy to try another power brick if you can barrow one, but it seems like something in the power management. Never personally seen this problem before.

I had this exact problem with a MacBook. I ended up having to always run it with the power cable connected until I figured out that it was the battery. That said, it is probably the same problem and it's time for a new battery, purchased or via warranty. I hope that this helps!

Sounds to me you have the perfect Power management system as leaving the mains on all the time will screw the battery.

If your laptop automatically switches to battery when plugged in thats good as I left my laptop connected to mains all the time and the battery died after 1 year.

According to various forums, one should run a notebook on battery till about 25% left then recharge then back to battery to extend the battery life

I have never heard of it but is there a configuration setting in the power management that will do this? Sounds more like a battery issue but with high tech stuff one never knows these days

Thanks for the reply's. Strange but for the last 48 hours it is not doing it anymore. ??? I will however try to use a different power cord first and see if that does the trick.
