Is It Finally Safe To Go Bangkok (pratunam / Phetburi Area)

Featured Replies

is it finally safe to visit bangkok (pratunam/phetburi) area in a few weeks time?

Yes it is safe

Was there yesterday, no issues other than the smell of smoke and fire

Area is very very quiet, went into a black canyon in Baiyoke tower that is

usually full and there was only one other person in the restaurant.

Pratunam is also very empty, easy to pass thru the vendors lining the

street and pass thru the tight alley ways inside

Siam paragon, Siam center and MBK also very very quiet

Any impact or effect at Pantip Plaza? I would expect not much if any, but always visit there when in BKK.

Of course it is safe, expect traffic jam though

Last Sunday (23-May) I took my daughter Idea on the motorcycle and drove down to the centre of Bangkok to look at the devastation. And taught her that if you're a good person then you don't have to be afraid of the police or soldiers, told her that the smell was that of fire, that the people who set fire to all the buildings now were in jail (the leaders anyway), showed her the reason why we couldn't go to her favourite playground at Central World any longer, good moral stories to tell a 5-year-old.

And it is perfectly safe

Edit: forgot - Panthip is open, never went in though

I go through the area virtually everyday and can promise you that it is very safe. Although as mentioned, rather quiet.

Is the Bon Kai area safe again now?

NO. Bangkok is not save.

Too many snipers around.

Some snipers are not even Thai.

One of them was caught and in jail now is a Australian sniper.

RIGHT. Bangkok is not save.

Too many handbags around.

Some handbags are not even Thai.

:)

And taught her that if you're a good person then you don't have to be afraid of the police or soldiers

I guess it would make sense to a 5 year old, but this is Thailand, not the UK or USA..

There is no need to be afraid of either police or soldiers in Thailand if you don't break the law, the events during the last couple of months clearly show that. Are you saying that you have to be afraid of the police and soldiers in the UK or USA? Please elaborate as I don't understand your logic
