I have a copy of a decree absolute attached to a letter from known UK Solicitors and the letter describes the document and confirms that the origional was sent to my home address many years before (not recieved).

My question is, does the existence of the letter meet the requirement for attestation?

Note: I've googled this one to death and can't accurately form a view hence I'm keen to read what you think.

I used a letter from my German Solicitor to gain the "Affirmation to Marry", no decree absolut, just the letter, oh and in German.

I lost my original copy so I got a certified copy of the court document and it cost me a fiver.

I imagine they would accept a letter from a solicitor confirming that it's a true copy, at the end of the day all you are doing is making an affirmation that you are free to marry.
