Duangta
Lightning struck our neighbours house the other day and a fire started spreading from the electric cables. 1) A call to the police station: "You have to call the firefighters" and hung up. 2) A call to the firefighting office: You have to call the local majors office (oboto) and hung up. 3) A call to the oboto went unanswered as it was after working hours. What would you do, whom would you call in an emergency??? By the way: The fire was put out after an hour by the residents themselves with the help of the local volunteer medical rescue org. No Police nor fire fighters ever showed up.
Caliguy
There is no real Emergency Response(cops and firefighters are illusions) in Thailand. The body snatchers can come mighty fast though, but that's only if you're dead. Welcome to Thailand Edited June 17, 2010 by Caliguy
billythefish
You would probably get a better response if you called 999 in the UK, failing that, you could always phone the BIB scum and tell them your house is on fire and that there is about 10 million Baht in used banknotes under the matress!
