My work permit and visa will expire soon. How much time, if any, does one have to leave the country when this happens? Do you have to leave the country before the workpermit and visa expire. Will the immigration office give you a short extension? What is the law? Thanks,

Is your employment situation set up so that you can renew entry permit and work permit? If you simply let them expire, then you best be heading out across a border as of expiration date. It is MUCH easier to renew these permits before they expire, than to re-apply fresh after letting them expire. And you won't even have to leave the country at all.

Good luck!

In case you want to renew workremit and visa, and you are holding a non immigrant B visa, you have to leave the country, best is 1 week before expiration.

E.G. go Penang, apply for a new visa, then come back and renew the work-perm.

This is the correct and cheapest way to do it, and naturally be shure that you have all the necessary paperwork with you.

If it's your own company you'll get this from your tax adviser, should be, actually, you should have asked THEM that questions!

If you are employed, then your employer has to get some papers ready for you.

In case you don't want to renew, than better leave latest on the day of expiration.

Then most probably you are suposed to give back your working permission book ,

get yourself some info's about this point before you go to the airport.
