Do you really expect the red blooded farangs in Thailand to have a non-reaction to any sort or type of beauty per se? Any man or woman, farang or Thai or others, do have various definitions for beauty. Imho, Ms. Thailand does deserve plenty of praise, admiration including adulation. We love Thailand and her people, particularly those few who could, legitimately, excel themselves to be distinguished among the finest in the world. The very fact that we are here in Thailand and are enjoying everything Thailand offers, including many many many beautiful attractions unavailable elsewhere, we really should be a little more complimentary. It was my impression that Thaivisa is NOT a place where serious mind and serious discussion congregate. Even in biz section and stocks venue, scholarly and serious discussion are the rarest of the rare, if it ever presents. :jap: Relax and read Thaivisa with pleasure rather than with any serious inclination. We are from many different walks of life, therefore, our outlooks are bound to be different in many major ways, that is one reason why farangs' ways of life in Thailand are so very much intriguing, to say the least. Three strains of HPV lead to cervical cancer. Cervical cancer is almost always linked to HPV. Sex workers are reservoirs for HPV (Human Papilloma Virus--commonly called venereal worts). Since a huge proportion of Thai men utilize sex trade workers they become the foment (foment = object of transmission) of one or more strains of HPV, tranferring it back to their wive. Virtually all fatal cervical cancer cases in thailand originated this way, and here, it seems mostly the men commenting on her transgressions. It's ok to criticize clothing, and I guess it's ok to kill your wife by utilizing the sex trade. It is ironic to see the kettle call the pot black. Yes Thai has a culture that should be respected, but her lifting her leg in the two photos show about the same amount of leg as would be shown if she was at a beach wearing relatively short shorts. I enjoyed here retort: "this is me" seems that she enjoyed being able to be very flexible since she was a child. Further, it's not like she's doing it in downtown Bkk... She beat out 83 contestants for those achievements. Both were awarded based upon online voting from around the world. It certainly smacks down her detractors somewhat. Just one week after being bashed for looking too sexy in her photos, the beauty contestant wins a vote based on her ability to look pretty in pictures Looks like the critics who took issue with Miss Thailand Universe’s sexy posing last week will be eating their words today. Fonthip Watcharatrakul has not only won the National Costume award, but was voted “Most Photogenic” out of the 83 contestants participating in the 2010 Miss Universe Pageant, which aired this morning (Monday night in the U.S.) in Las Vegas. Last week, Thai gossip blog Dirtii-laundry.net reported that media and netizens here were complaining that photos of Miss Thailand posing with fellow contestants were highly inappropriate as they showed her lifting her leg up in a revealing red dress. The beauty queen defended herself on her Facebook page, though clearly no further comment is necessary given the vindication that comes with her "Most Photogenic" win. The winner of this year’s Miss Universe pageant, by the way, is Miss Mexico Jimena Navarrete. The only Asian contestant to make the final 15 was Miss Philippines. Buchholz Posted August 31, 2010 Author Share Posted August 31, 2010 Miss Thailand Universe Returns to Thailand Miss Thailand Universe 2010 has returned to Thailand amidst warm greetings at Suvarnabhumi airport, bringing home two awards from the world stage. Fonthip Watcharatrakul or Pooklook arrived at Suvarnabhumi airport where she received a warm welcome from her family and many supporters. At the world stage in Las Vegas, Fonthip won Miss Photogenic and Best National Costume. Her father, mother and sister welcomed back Fonthip with hugs and kisses before her friends from Ratchawinit Bangkaew school showed their support in spirit. Two contestants from previous years were also present to congratulate her. Fonthip said the Miss Universe pageant was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for her to represent Thailand. She hopes that she has made the staff of the Miss Thailand Universe team and other Miss Thailand Universe contestants proud. Upon her return, Fonthip has already been reportedly asked to star in a TV series on Channel 7. When asked about a provocative picture of her released in the press recently, she apologized to all those it may have offended. Only 3 went on to win the title Miss Universe: 1988 Miss Thailand ( Pornthip) Became Miss Universe 1988 1998 Miss Trinidad&Tobago " 1998 2003 Miss Dorminican Republic " 2003 What's all the hype with 'PookLook' anyway ?
