A "disgrace" is used rather casually here, in my opinion.  Her staff had used the device in the past with success, and she recommended it.  Bad recommendation, as it turned out, but many others gave the OK on it, too. But her saying the device worked was based on her staff's experiences with it, and I am not sure how else she could have formulated an opinion. That it was pretty much useless in an airport setting, that the price was gouging, is Monday-morning quarterbacking.  

A poor recommendation, sure. But hardly something to outweigh all the good she has done in her life.

I watched all 7 parts of this video. It is incredible!! It's hard to believe it is real.

I also watched some other program on Youtube. This women is brilliant. Not to take anything away from her at all, but it seems that much of the evidence she uses could be found by any logical minded person without training. Checking semen DNA against a supposed rape victim is not exactly cutting edge. Neither is looking for marks of strangulation on a victim of strangulation. This is not a criticism of her but maybe an indicator of the complete lack of enquiry by the normal channels. On the other hand though it could be simply that in the cases shown the police did not want to find those markers.

You overlook completely the point that she was on (or advised) the military committee that ordered the GT200 junk at hugely inflated prices.It's far more insidious than a "poor recommendation".It's the implication of incompetence and corruption that's damaging.She hasn't acknowledged her massive error of judgement (to be charitable) either.

However many foreigners seem bewitched by her.Most educated Thais I know are much more sceptical.

I was always sceptical of her in the past. But that was based on my tendency to doubt anything the Thais do, so was really groundless. Having looked more closely she does seem to be involved in many good causes and has a unusual (for Thais) grasp of logic and scientific reason. I feel that she has to be a good role model not only for Thai children but for children generally. Watching a program about her I got the impression she lives a modest life and has not made huge money from her work. I'd hate to think that she was actually corrupt.

Well, that's fairly true. I guess it gets her noticed. It is quite a ridiculous hair cut that must take some time to arrange. There are plenty of celebs in the west with equally stupid barnetts though.
