Today the owner of the famous Outback Bar in Haad Rin is dead following a motorbike accident on the way to Chaloklum.

The body actually is in the Thong Sala Wat for who want to give a farewell.

I know he is in peace now.

To partial correction to the news, Paddy still doesn't stay at the Temple and therefore is not possible for the friends to pay respect to him.

My guess they wait the family come in KPG.

He was driving, as usual, very fast, with the husky dog with him, close to Chaloklum. I don't have any further informations.

R.I.P.

I heard about this this morning. Very sad, RIP Paddy. I too wondered about the dog as it was always with him. My thoughts are with his family.

The husky dog was not with him. I don't know yet about ceremony, funeral or other. I'll inform the forum.

For sure he is in peace now.

I have heard that the police have his body at the rescue morgue and are awaiting the Embassy to repatriate his body.

There is no funeral at the Wat planned since the body will be repatriated is my understanding.

Any other news on Pads would be appreciated as there are a whole group of his old friends wondering what is happening and when and where his funeral will be. Much appreciated. ]

As above, the body will be repatriated and no funeral at the Wat is planned.

You could try organizing a memorial service if you wish.

I have heard, as above, that the Embassy is repatriating the body and the parents are not coming out. And while the source is certainly one I trust, as with anything in Thailand, things change and they may come out after all.

Sad, RIP -

the roads on KPG are horrific, just this stretch from Haad Rin to Ban Thai... the other night, quite heavy rain and all of a sudden like out of nowhere there was this guy standing with a crutch in the middle of the road..just made it...there is a lesson there somewhere, never ever speed on KPG's roads..

If earlier accounts are to be believed and the accident occurred near Chaloklam the accident occurred on one of the best and newest roads on the island.

From what I have been told it happened right at the bend, where the little bridge is, altho given the vague description i am not sure if its on the Thong Sala side of the Chaloklum hill or on the other side of the hill?

Talked to some friends in Chaloklam today, you are correct, it happened on the Chaloklam side. If coming from Thongsala, the bridge is just after the Chinese temple. The road drops out off camber just after the bridge.

sad.

and the widest and fastest

True, it is fondly referred to as the autobahn.

But, the accident cannot be blamed on poor quality roads as Samuian suggests
