'Rock Sadeurt' is a group not a pooying and not morlam either, Jintara sings mainly luktung these days, well she always has right from the start. Her two early hits were both luktung. Luktung is far more comercial than morlam but she usually has one or two morlam songs on her luktung sa orn series, number 11 is the latest. Her morlam singing is wonderful and she based her style on Pimjai who is now about 60 I think. I have seen her the most-30 times and never gets boring one of my favourite songs is rak sa loei dog fai baan and her second hit warn puan kean jot mai when she was about 18. She has just made a film which should be out next year. Last year she was awarded two honourary degrees, one from home in Roi et and one from sakhon nahkon. I think she is the only singer ever to have recieved such honours.

Thai music is the greatest thing about thailand, can get sex and booze anywhere after all :D  So many great singers but a few I admire are Pumpuang Duangchan, Honey Sri Issan (both long dead) Sunarlee Rachesima, Tai Orathai, Deang Jitakorn, Monsit Khomsoi, Siriporn Ampaipong, Mike Piromporn, Nok Noi Ulraiporn and band, Job and Joy, Yui Yatt Yerr and Banyen Raggen, Yew Penpeyom,Jinatara is my favourite I think

I agree with what you say about string and detest it with a passion, don't regard it as thai music myself, it just sounds like thai's singing a western style, but then I don't even like songs for life either. Could go on about this all day but have to go out-peter

Luktung!

Got my styles confused huh? :D

Thanks for the info and the artist's names.

Music does wonders. :D

I was working in our driveway when this Thai crew came along and started planting trees in the park across the street. They kept looking my way, one would say something and the others would start laughing. This went on constantly for about an hour. "Falang this, falang that" :D

I thought I'd use my brain instead of my mouth to stop it as it was getting quite irritating. I changed my ELO cd to Jintara, turned it up and went back outside.

"Chop mai?" ("Like it?")

Not a word from them afterwards :o
