Price Of Domestic Air Travel

Featured Replies

I'm hollidaying in Thailand in August with my wife who is originally from Chaing Mai. She keeps quoting me ridiculously cheap internal air prices from BKK to CM (700 Baht one way) but i dont believe it can be that cheap. She is getting info from her not always particularly reliable mother who works in a travel agent. What is the going rate for flying to CM and does it depend on the time of departure and do i need to book in advance and not purchase ticket from airport? Also are flights to krabi, Phuket, Ko Chang similarly priced.

Thanx in advance

If you fly AirAsia, it can be as cheap as 400 baht one way. It depends how far in advance you book.

Nok Air flies for under a thousand baht to CM. Check the web-site for other destinations.

The budget airlines One To Go, Oreint Thai, Air Asia and Nok Air all fly to Chiang Mai. Charges are about another 400 baht, including fuel surcharge.

You can book tickets on their respective websites with your credit card or buy a ticket at the airport, although you may lose out with the latter option. Flights also go to Krabi and Phuket but always through Bangkok.

With all of these fares, make sure that you compare the totals (with airport tax, admin fee VAT, fuel surcharge etc). Love Nok - but their total figure is significantly higher than the headline figure.

I know that Thai (generally more expensive than the others) give a discount for the last flight of the day - so the others might price similarly. You can check all of this online at the respective websites.........
