Dammit, I love Xmarks, I hope the alternates works just as good.

Great pity they could not make it work business wise.

Really good service over the years, ah well have to start looking at the alternatives seriously.

Anybody recommend any good alternatives that they are currently using ?

Firefox syncing works very well and is free too.

There are for the moment no cross platform bookmark sync service available, so if you use, say, Firefox and Chrome and want to sync bookmarks between those you're up sheet creek without a paddle.
