Maestro
A single-entry tourist will be valid for travel to Thailand within 90 days from its date of issue. Upon arrival in Thailand you will be granted permission to stay for 60 days. If desired, you may get a 30-day extension at any immigration office in Thailand for a fee of 1,900 Baht. If you arrive by air without a visa you will get permission to stay for 30 days. In this case, be sure to have a ticket for a flight out of Thailand within 30 days from arrival as otherwise the airline may not allow you to board at your point of departure for the flight to Thailand. Lite Beer
As said a Visa is not needed providing you have a flight ticket leaving Thailand within 30 days of arrival.
Xircal
60 day Tourist visas are free until 31 March 2011, so you may as well take advantage of it. You can download the application form from here: Tourist Visa application form One thing you should be aware of though if you don't intend to apply for a visa is that you can only remain in Thailand for 90 days in any six month period. I read that quite recently on an official site somewhere, so presumably they just haven't bothered to update the info.
lopburi3
The rule has never been official rescinded AFAIK; it just is ignored since the change to 15 day land border visa exempt entry.
Lite Beer
The way I read it is that National Police Order Number 778/2008 (2551) dated November 25th, 2008. cancelled and replaced National Police Order Number 608/2006 (2549) dated September 8th, 2006 Point Number 3 15 Day Entry.pdf
