What Are Those Plants Goo For?

Recommended Posts

I got 3 kinds of seeds from <forest.go.th>

- Tong Badan

- Non tree ban

- Khi lek ban

The site <www.forest.go.th> was of no help.

I googled 15 pages, no info.

My books: "Flowering plants of Thailand by P. McMakin" and "Trees & Shrubs in Thailand by A. and J. Storrs didn't mention them.

Where could I check now?

khi lek the leaves are pickled and jarred ; very tasty in soups and things... ill try to find the label as the latin name was listed on the ingredients (for here in israel)

yep, have the thai speaker type in google, then u can get the latin name and go from there. thats how ive been doing it. oh, btw, make sure she uses thai gen (thai) and not issaan variations since often they haave different names for things and makes the initial search frustrating. (names for the different squashes and pumpkins a prime example)

Tong Badan (ทรงบาดาล) is Scrambled Eggs.

Non tree ban (นนทรีบ้าน) is Copper Pod or Yellow Flame or Peltophorum pterocarpum Back. Ex Heyne.

Khi lek ban (ขี้เหล็กบ้าน) is Cassod Tree.

Hope these help.
