      My life has been fairly "enjoyable and stable" in Thailand, for many years - but I don't pretend to know the future. I use the same permitted-stay as you do, and I hope the rules do not change. The point is to be sure you can take "enjoyable and stable" with you, if things change unexpectedly. I have no fixed-assets in Thailand I could not afford to lose - is Rule #1. I have the wherewithal to move to another country if something goes wrong here. I keep-tabs on the immigration rules in a few other "2nd Choice" countries, just in case.

      You become who associate with. If you don't like being around rich people you are probably not rich. One of the cardinal rules of financial success for most people is to not associate with the down and out. Surround youself with success and the energy of that eventually penetrates you. A lot of it is mindset. It works in reverse also. If you're around the down and out it eventually drags uou down. There are rare exceptions where where being in the opposite circumstance makes people stronger, but for the majority the above rule applies.

The annual pension amount is converted into Thai Baht using a pension certificate and certified by your embassy. You will use Thai tax return form number 91, which is in Thai script and typically requires assistance to complete. After entering your annual income (in this case, your pension), you first deduct allowable expenses, just like in your home country’s tax return process. Example Calculation Based on Euros for Taxation in Thailand: The pensioner receives a net income of €1,100 per month, which is approximately 42,000 THB/month, or around 504,000 THB/year. ..... In summary, a foreign taxpayer with a monthly pension income of €1,100, or €13,200 per year (equivalent to 504,000 THB), would pay approximately 200 Thai Baht in taxes.       Sending food back to the kitchen?

      In a restaurant last Wednesday. Me....beef on spicy spaghetti, step daughter....noodles with pork, grandson.......fried rice. Mrs.....pork chop with rice & salad. Mine came first, then the noodle, then the rice, then 20 minutes later, the Mrs chop. When I asked why, they explained that the chop was frozen and had to be defrosted. Quite correct, but guess where we shall not go again.

      Oh Beloved Bangkok, How So You Have Changed...

      Bangkok is definitely cleaner. The impression you get may depend upon which part of the city you mainly spend time in though. Malls in Bangkok are the replacement to the nice, outdoor civic spaces that you have in many other well planned cities of the world. Bangkok doesn't have lots of nice parks and green spaces that you can walk around in. It also doesn't have a river with bicycles and running paths that many other cities have too. Basically, Bangkok has very little outdoor space where people can comfortably enjoy themselves. So the malls are the civic space alternative. Clean and with free toilets and air-conditioning. If you really wanna do anything in a mall then you have to spend money in the malls, unlike free outdoor civic space. That is the biggest downside. But if you just want to sit somewhere for a while, cool off, and use a toilet, then you can do that in a mall. Many also have reasonably priced food courts, with various food options where people can get something to eat for not a lot of money. I almost never go to malls though, and I haven't even been to many of the newer fancy ones that have opened in the last five years. I feel like you've seen one and you've seen them all. One Bangkok mall that I think is useful though is The Street. It is a relatively small place, but has a 24 hour Foodland supermarket, along with a number of 24 hour restaurants. Handy if you'd like to meet a friend for a chat at night and don't feel like sitting in a dark, loud drinking environment. Otherwise, I agree with everything else you wrote.

      Bad scientists do this. Need to be aware of who the scientists work for. Science knowledge can be analysed statistically. Experiments can be repeated, if the data comes up that shows the same thing then all well & good with the theory. If the data comes back with knowledge that disagrees with the prevailing main theory then questions need to be asked about the theory and how it describes the 'reality' that experiment investigated .

Beware websites like tourist Health and travel health offering health services in Thailand. They try to give the impression that they are part of hospital websites. And if you ask them for a quote they will add a huge mark up as commission, double in some cases.. They probably have arrangements with some private hospitals. Do not use them but go straight to the actual Hospital website. Sometimes they include the Hospital name on their web address so beware.

how would there afford to pay so much for Ads if there are not earning as much . this is just part of the parasite system that some business choose to live on . usually with people who is just out for money then really providing a decent service .

the world had gone sour and there is half the decent people left then before .

for the mere fatc that buyer and service user offen is too lazy or blind sighted by ads who only give you half of what is happening and mislead good hearted people into buying more over rated and over price product and services .

anyway too much to list .

sad to say this is half of what our world is build up with .

Is the OP giving advice to those thinking of coming here or to those already here?

I think those already here, already know just to pop in to the hospital or clinic of their choice......or go directly to the hospital's website.

Mainly those who are coming here. But I wanted a quote for an operation at The Ram Hospital Chiangmai to see if it was cheaper than Bangkok. I googled Ram and came up with a website that distinctly looked like a real hospital one. I exchanged several emails that looked as if they came from doctors or hospital staff before I realized the website was a scam
