Two Palestinians killed during Israeli raid in the West Bank

2010-10-08 20:16:58 GMT+7 (ICT)

TEL AVIV, ISRAEL (BNO NEWS) -- The Israel Defense Force (IDF) on Friday announced that it conducted an overnight operation in the West Bank city of Hebron, resulting in the arrest of six alleged terrorists and the deaths of two others.

The IDF said the objective of the operation was to arrest those involved in a terror shooting attack on August 31 which left four Israelis killed. However, during the operation, according to the IDF, the suspected terrorists opened fire, prompting the IDF to hit and kill two suspects.

Nashat Karmi, 33, from Hebron, who had previously been imprisoned in Israel, and Mammon Natsha, 24, also of Hebron, who in the past had been arrested for his activity as a member of Hamas, were both killed and identified as local leaders of the Izz al-Din Qassam Brigades.

Palestinian officials confirmed the deaths, and following the raid, a statement was released by the Islamist Hamas movement, stating it would seek vengeance.

In addition, six suspected terrorists were arrested and several assault rifles were seized.

Hebron is located in the West Bank and is home to about 100,000 Palestinians. But with 500 Jewish settlers, the area has been a scene of violence.

The August 31 attack was conducted after Palestinian gunmen opened fire on a car in east Hebron, killing four individuals, including a pregnant woman.

This and other crimes.

Palestinian medical sources in the southern West Bank city of Hebron reported Friday morning that two Palestinians were killed and ten others were wounded after the army invaded the city, surrounded a house of a resistance fighter and fired mortars at it.

The attacks go both ways. I do think both sides abuse the word terrorist, this is a long standing war. Do you want peace or not? Do you recognize the right of Israel to exist as a Jewish state, or not? Most Israel bashers don't, why should they listen to people who want them erased? There can never be peace there until the Palestinians (who of course deserve their OWN state as well) accept that. It isn't 1948 anymore. The arguments against creating Zionist Israel should have been made then, now it is too late for that, Israel exists and has every legal right to fight to continue to exist.
