Hi all

I have just started the task of putting all the evidence that is needed to allow me to sponsor my GF visit to the UK next year.

I will be in Thailand at the end of the month and we have decided to apply for the Visa within the 3 months allowed with the hope that my GF will come to the UK mid Feb 2011.

Since my GF was turned down the first time and was granted a visa 2nd time of trying and she spent last winter in the UK, I am not taking it for granted its a done deal since she was granted a visa last year, So i have decided to go along the lines of dealing with all the issues once again addressing the reasons why she was not granted a visa first time, I have 2 choice's, I can make reference to all the issues in my Sponsors letter or i can put my previous letter that addressed all the issues and just write on the Bottom of my sponcers letter that i have enclosed my privous sponsors letter for reference.

I don't want to make a long winded letter, Just want to address all their points.

The only thing different this this time is the fact that she has stayed at home and she has worked in the family shop earning little money, so she has been spending her savings. She has got UK money with Her, but she was hoping that the UK £ would rise against the baht and she would then Exchange the money and put it in her bank.

she was working has a cook in a shopping center the last time she applied and she had 40,000 Baht in her bank. the issues that they picked up on first time are 1.she failed to provide evidence of a relationship

2.Stating that they needed passport proof that i had been to Thailand on the dates given

3.No evidence to suggest that she reciprocated any of my phone calls

4.Your unemployed and its not clear how you supported yourself in Thailand. they where not satisfied that your socially and economically well settled in your country

Anyone else on the forum who has had the same problem off applying for their second tourist visa after their first try was turned down

Thank you in advance for your help

Points 1, 2 and 3 of her 1st failure are answered by your continuing relationship, which will now be obvious to UK Border.

If you sponsored her financially for the last visit and intend to do so again then you have a pretty copper-bottomed case that only requires you to give some good confirmatory comments about why she will come back to Thailand again after her visit and for you to give the financial evidence you have the money for her trip. If she used her own money and it will now be evident that she has less assets, then you may have something to address in your sponsor's letter about either her asset cover for the visit or your asset cover (in addition to answering the relevant questions in the application and providing the financial evidence requested).

I don't think you need to say anything about the first failure. That was addressed by UK Border last time, so don't drag it up unnecessarily. I have always worked on the basis that it is helpful to briefly summarise why your application should be accepted so I would simply include:

When you first met your girlfriend

The regularity of your visits to Thailand (unless you have only been here a couple of times)

The fact that you gf came to the UK in x month and returned in y month last year

Your future plans together if you have any intention to marry or settle here (again stay silent if you are ambivalent or have no plans)

A brief statement that you have the necessary funds to support her flight and visit or reference to her assets to meet those costs

Why she is coming - tourism or visiting your family with you or both is fine

Reference to any assets she has in Thailand or any job commitments or any other non-factual comments you can add to convince them she will come back to Thailand.

Whilst it is fair to say that the OP doesn't need to detail the fact that his girlfriend was previously refused Entry Clearance it's imperative that the applicant declares the fact that she has previously been refused on her application.

I would also urge her not to take things for granted and assume that because she has already been issued a visa then a second will automatically follow, as is often said each application is treated on its merit and that works both ways.

I would urge the applicant to put as much effort into this application as she did for the earlier successful one, don't leave anything to chance.

I note that the OP says his girlfriend has already spent a winter in the UK, poor thing, if the length of stay was in her original application then all well and good, if however she stated she was only going to stay for a couple of weeks and then stayed longer, then it might be advisable to explain why, she will still have complied with the conditions of the visa, but she doesn't want to start putting doubt in the mind of ECO.

Good luck
