BAGHDAD, IRAQ (BNO NEWS) -- At least 2 people were killed after two car bombs struck an Iraqi prison, while roadside bombs killed another 3 in the country, officials said Monday.

Major Khalid Jamal al-Din confirmed the death of two prison security guards in Badoush, located in the outskirts of Mosul, which is in the northern region of Iraq. According to reports, at around 9 a.m. local time, the two car bomb exploded in the residential compound for security guards, which also injured 11.

The explosions severely damaged a nearby home, which eventually collapsed, trapping the family under the rubble. Rescue efforts were directed in freeing the trapped family.

Also, roadside bombs in Qaim, around 340 kilometers west of Baghdad, killed 2 and injured 5, while one police officer was killed during separate explosions in Baghdad, which injured an additional 7, including 3 police officers.
