Terrorist group threatens Israelis after Wednesday's air strike

2010-11-19 21:20:18 GMT+7 (ICT)

JERUSALEM, ISRAEL (BNO NEWS) -- A terrorist group linked with al-Qaeda has threatened to seek vengeance after an Israeli air-strike killed two of their senior members in the Gaza Strip.

On Wednesday, the Israel Air Force carried out an aerial strike on a vehicle carrying two senior members of the "Army of Islam," who were allegedly planning to kidnap Israelis vacationing in Sinai, according to Israel Defense Force (IDF) Spokesman's Office.

Islam Yassin, 35, of Jabalya, and his brother Muhammad, were killed during the strike, which also injured four people. Their vehicle was passing near the al-Shabiya juncture in central Gaza when the missile struck.

Following the attack, a rare 30-second audio message in Hebrew - they are usually recorded in Arabic - was posted on a website used by radicals linked to terrorist organizations. In the message, a male voice is heard threatening "aggressor Jews," who will not be safe from attack until they withdraw from the "land of Palestine."

The attack marked this month's second in Gaza against the "Army of Islam." On November 3, the IDF conducted an operation that killed Muhammad Jamal Faras Nemnan.
