I am a Malaysian.I have spend 2 and the half years time in Thai prison.

About 6 years ago,I tried to enter Thailand but the immigration refuse my entry.

They told me that I've been blacklisted.

Now already past 12 years and I don't know how long does criminal record last in Thailand.

Do you think I can enter Thailand now?

Please answer.

Your answer is much appreciated.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

I think the blacklisting lasts forever.

The only chance you probably may have to come back to Thailand would be if you legally obtain a new identity(name) in your home country.

how to obtain a new identity?

But in Malaysia they don't allowed us to change our name.

Change your name and get a new passport with a new number. That should do it.

But is it illegal?

Most likely and if you are caught you may end up spend up spending more time at the pleasure of the BiB....I beleive you could take on a Thai lawyer to get your blacklisting lifted in certain circumstances and a "spent" conviction could be one of them, but if it was for drugs, I would forget about it, chances are it will not happen

It is not illegal to change your name in most countries.

You will get a new Passport but, unless a person is under some sort of witness protection system, the issuing authority may well add some remarks in the new Passport like: Bearer of this Passport was previously known under the name:......, holder of Passport #.......

This would of course defy the purpose of a new identity for the OP.

If the OP gets into Thailand with a new name he should not have any problems unless he runs into legal trouble which could trigger a more thorough background check.

Exactly, and although getting the new name and passport may not be illegal, but the purpose the new identity is being used for ie gaining "illegal" entry to country may be "frowned" upon by Thailand finest...

To the OP, why dont you talk to a Thai lawyer and see what your options are, as dont think you will find the answer you are looking for on TV
