I am an American citizen currently on a 30 day stamp. I'd like to get at least the 7 day extension. Two quick questions:

1. Am I likely to need proof of onward travel? Because I haven't bought my next ticket yet.

2. Does the extension add on to the end of my original stamp period, or does it count from the date I receive the extension?

My tentative plan is to visit the immigration office in Phuket, but as I'm not there yet I could also do Bangkok without going far out of my way.
