Macnick
Hey All I just wanted to start this thread to see how many people out there have had a good experience when buying property in Thailand and have been happy with there purchase since. What was the project? Who was the developer? Has the property been managed well since the purchase? Have you recieved a good ROI (if rented)? There are plenty of good people out there doing things professionally, lets throw some credit where its due Chock dee khrup :jap:
ESB7
Bought land and built house, all in wifes name, sold at a nice profit after 2 years and done again selling to Thai buyers, its the only way to do it.......forget buying on a developed gated community with extorniate montly fees for gardens/garbage etc, its expensive and you got zilch chance of selling if you want to move on..happy dosnt even describe the last few years Ive had....hope you can do the same. travelmann
A lot of the succes here will depend on timing of many things the main one for foreigners was their currency against the baht, now really isnt a good time to buy to let. If you bought at the right time 10% Roi is still do-able of course others here will tell you this is rubbish For best results live on site and get your wife on the committee buy from well known developer not a one time wonder.. and choose tenants with care. craigt3365
We bought last year in a gated community. The house was owned by a foreign investor who had to sell, so we got a great deal on it. It was empty, so fitted it out and everything is working out great. Wifey is on the committee as is her cousin. Lots of great neighbors to visit with. And the community is kept up fairly well. Not happy about the maintenance fees, but the last place I owned was New York City....so this is cheap for me! We bought this as a home and are not really interested in ROI. Hopefully, we can make a few bucks when we sell in 5 years or so. Until then, it is our home and it is great. For me, I hate renting. I've always owned my own home. Macnick
Thanks. There are plenty of topics on who to avoid and would be good to get some more feedback on who all the good guys are. A lot of people will be visiting LOS over the next few months during high season and deciding to invest in property here. It would be very helpful for them to have a list of who to go to rather than a list of who to avoid. Cheers
quiksilva
I brought in Sansiri, on the whole I'm very happy. I would only caution that the doors they supply as standard are not very good, and that 3 years on and one wall is in need of a repaint
BIGJIMMY
We brought off plan from a gated commutiny estate in Pattaya, we're been in the place over a year now and all is well, we had a few teething problems in the beginning but no problems from the developers to repair/make good a few things and all is hunky dory, I look forward to the day when the whole estate is sold (about 14 plots left) so we the residents can form a residents committee etc but in the mean-time we're happy with everything. The estate has various styles of houses as its been built in stages so it isn't one of these places where every house is the same and within touching distance of next door, we're in Soi Siam Country in Pattaya. Bigjimmy I saw the pics of the house you bought. Beautiful. I agree, it would not be fun to live in a low end housing estate here. I have a friend who does. The Thai guy next door decided to house his chickens there, great fun at 4am. Across the street is a guy doing biz out of his front yard (he refurnishes furniture and it is noisy, dirty and smelly). His other neighbor sings karaoke till the wee hours. All houses are exactly the same, cars parked all over the street, no yard at all (need good curtains!). Sansiri is one of the best developers here. I believe another is Raimon Land?
