Wife & Sons Visa To Uk

Featured Replies

Hi all-Have lived in Thailand for a few years now,but i am presently back in the UK for 6-12 months due to work commitments.I am about to apply for a 6 month or 1 year family visa for my (Thai) wife & son to join me here.Apologies if this sounds a bit of a stupid question, but at the end of their 6 month or 1 year stay,if i wanted them to stay further would i be able to apply for some kind of extension or apply for a new kind of visa while they were still in the UK? Or would they have to return to Thailand first, and then we would have to apply for a new visa again from scratch so to speak?

Also our son is only 6 months old.I assume that when applying for a visa i would need to apply for a seperate visa for him?.........or would he come under the wifes visa application? I will be registering his birth in the UK,but as yet he does not have a UK passport, only a Thai one.-Many thanks in advance.

Sorry i forgot something.I see there is some English test that some non eu people have to take now before being allowed into the UK.Is this for all types of visa,or just settlement visas? Thanks.

A 1 year visit visa does not allow her to stay the full year generally its any 6 months out of 12 month in the UK.

If you register the birth for your son he can apply for a UK passport and he will not require a visa.

Your wife will have to return to Thailand before the current one expires and re apply for any further visas.

And you are right in thinking that the English test is only for settlement applications.
